All-Star Game Prediction
Can the National League find a way to snap their losing streak to the American League when the two meet up in the 2017 MLB All-Star Game tonight?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the National League is listed as a slight favorite in this game, as the NL stars are getting odds of -115 to win, while the American League is listed with +105 odds. The over/under total for the game has been set at 9 runs. Tonight’s game takes place at 8PM ET from Marlins Park in Miami and will air live on FOX.

The American League has dominated this event for the last 14 years, winning 11 of the 14 meetings. The National League had won three straight from 2010-12, but the AL has bounced back and won the last four by multiple runs.
Obviously both rosters are stacked, so hitting shouldn’t be an issue for either team, but the American League has a significant amount of big names missing due to injuries or weekend starts. At the plate, Mike Trout is unavailable for the AL, while on the mound, Yu Darvish, Michael Fulmer, Dallas Keuchel and Corey Kluber are also out. The only player unavailable for the National League is Clayton Kershaw, who started for the Dodgers on Sunday. While it is a big loss, the NL still has plenty of arms to turn to tonight.
I really don’t like the makeup of the American League roster. The team seems to be relying heavily on a lot of first-time All-Stars. Six of the hitters in the starting lineup will be in their first All-Star Game. I don’t think that is a good recipe for success against some of the best pitchers in the game. The National League has more experience and bigger name power as well. I also like the NL pitching staff better. They have fewer players missing and a lot of impressive strikeout artists. I know the American League has been the better team for most years, but I think this is the NL’s year.
