Astros 2011 MLB Betting Odds
(The Spread) – Thanks to their lousy offense, the Houston Astros seem once again destined to finish near the bottom of the NL Central standings in 2011.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Astros +10000 on the money line to win the 2011 World Series and +3500 to win the NL Central. They also have an over/under win total of 72 games in 2011.
Biggest Offseason Addition: Uh, Clint Barmes? Is the answer Clint Barmes? No? Bill Hall? Yikes. The Astros chose to spend their offseason re-signing players like centerfielder Michael Bourn and utility man Jeff Keppinger, while going light on the free agent additions (Barmes and Hall were it). Granted, they did make two moves last year by trading away former stars Roy Oswalt and Lance Berkman, but Houston was rather quiet this offseason.
Biggest Loss: This is going to read like the “Biggest Offseason Addition” section. I wouldn’t deem losing Matt Lindstrom, Felipe Paulino, Brian Moehler and Geoff Blum “big,” but those players are gone. Again, the team traded away Oswalt and Berkman but that was last year, so Lindstrom, Paulino, Moehler and Blum will have to do for this category.
Season Outlook: The pitching is pretty solid and the outfield isn’t bad either assuming Carlos Lee can recover from his worst season as a pro. This team will rely on starters Wandy Rodriguez, Brett Meyers, J.A. Happ and Bud Norris to keep them competitive but the offense will struggle again unless youngsters like Brett Wallace step up. This club isn’t as bad as the Pirates but they’re certainly not as good as the Reds, Brewers, Cardinals or even the Cubs. They’ll struggle again this season, but at least their pitching will be entertaining.
