Luis Garcia picked up his ninth victory of the season on Saturday, limiting the Angels to two runs on six hits over his five frames. The right-hander struck out five in the contest and issued three free passes. Things didn’t start out well for him, as he served up a leadoff homer to Shohei Ohtani and an RBI single to Jared Walsh in the opening inning, but he was able to settle down and keep the Angels off the board for the next four innings. Garcia generated 10 swings and misses in the contest and posted a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll carry a stellar 3.30 ERA and 1.12 WHIP into Thursday’s start against the Royals in Kansas City.

Hunter Dozier went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Astros on Wednesday. After the Astros took a one-run lead in the top of the seventh, Dozier put the Royals back on top with a two-run blast to left field off of Blake Taylor. There was no doubt the ball was leaving the yard after it left Dozier’s bat at 105 miles per hour. It was just the tenth homer of the season for the 29-year-old third baseman, who carries a disappointing .207/.280/.371 triple-slash over 393 plate appearances.
