Astros’ manager Dusty Baker told reporters on Monday that Yainer Diaz will serve as the team’s designated hitter for Game 3 of the ALDS against the Twins. There have been rumblings for Diaz to see time behind the dish — given Martin Maldonado’s limited profile offensively — but he’ll at least get to take his licks at the plate in Game 3. That will almost surely mean that Yordan Alvarez will cover left field which would push Michael Brantley to the bench for the Astros.

He has been sizzling this postseason, going 8-for-15 (.533) with three doubles and four RBI through his first four games.
