Braves Season Odds
One of the surprises of the 2009 MLB Season might be the Atlanta Braves, who certainly have the veteran talent to challenge the best of the best in the National League this season.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Braves a 22/1 long shot to win the 2009 World Series and established their National League Pennant odds at 10/1. Considering they’re expected to challenge for the top spot in the NL East this season, 22/1 odds offer a nice value.
The Braves lost long-time pitching veteran John Smoltz when he signed with the Red Sox this offseason, but they made a quality addition in Derek Lowe, who became Atlanta’s ace. Lowe joins Javier Vazquez and promising youngster Jair Jurrjens to form a solid top 3 of the rotation.
Atlanta isn’t going to blow anyone away on paper, but make no mistake – this is a solid ball club. Chipper Jones, Yunel Escobar, Kelly Johnson, Brian McCann and newly acquired Garret Anderson comprise a very good lineup and assuming everyone stays healthy, the Braves should be alive for most of the season and possibly make a run if they reach the postseason.
