Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies 4/8/18, MLB Predictions & Odds

Braves vs. Rockies Prediction

After a surprisingly low-scoring game on Saturday at Coors Field, will the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies rediscover their offense on Sunday? The two teams will wrap up their series in Denver today at 3:10 p.m. ET.

Game Snapshot with Current Odds

909 Atlanta Braves (+128) at 910 Colorado Rockies (-140); 11 runs

Sunday, April 8, 2018, 3:10 p.m. ET, Coors Field

TV: FSSO (ATL); ATTR (COL)

Public Betting Trends

As of this writing, the Rockies are receiving 57% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks to beat the Braves today on the money line. Meanwhile, 63% of the betting tickets wagered on the total are on the over.

Atlanta Braves will throw Lefty Newcomb at Rockies

Sean Newcomb lost his first start of the season, allowing six runs (five earned), five hits and four walks in just 4 1/3 innings with six strikeouts Monday against the Nationals (who beat the Braves 8-1). Things might not finish well for Newcomb today either, as he owns a 5.91 ERA in two starts against the Rockies. That also includes a 4.50 ERA in one start at Coors Field, although the two teams managed to only score a combined seven runs in that August 15 games.

Newcomb hopefully will be backed by a strong Atlanta offense that features Freddie Freeman, Ozzie Albies and Kurt Suzuki, who could offer good matchups against Freeland.

Colorado Rockies Send Freeland to Mound for Rubber Match

The Rockies will send Kyle Freeland to the mound on Sunday for their rubber match with the Braves and seeing how it’s a game day, Colorado could have an advantage. That’s because as a rookie last year, the left-hander was 6-3 with a 2.55 ERA in day games started at Coors Field. According to ESPN.com, in home day games last year not started by Freeland, the Rockies went 9-10 with a 5.81 ERA.

“He’s a young guy,” Foster said. “He gets up early every day, and he’s got energy. I wish I could explain it, but I don’t think there’s any science behind it. The guy just wakes up early ready to go, and he’s energized.”

Betting Trends:

Atlanta

The Braves are just 7-19 in their last 26 games versus the Rockies and are 3-13 in their last 16 games in Colorado.

Colorado

The Rockies are just 1-4 in Freeland’s last five starts dating back to last season and are winless at 0-5 in their last five home outings.

Bet Sunday’s Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies Matchup

Today’s MLB Prediction

I haven’t had a good beat on this series, as I took the under on Friday when these two teams combined for 11 runs in cold temps, then went with the over yesterday as the bats disappeared on both sides. But with this being a day game at Coors Field and two volatile pitchers starting, I’m going back to the well with the over. The Braves don’t strike out much and Freeland can be hit or miss, same as Newcomb.

Pick: Braves/Rockies Over 11
