Dodgers wrap up series vs. woeful Braves
Clayton Kershaw’s excellence almost gets taken for granted these days. The Dodgers’ official No. 2 hurler, though, continues to face plenty of scrutiny from start to start.
Scott Kazmir’s next chance to show the people of Chavez Ravine a little more stability comes in a few short hours, with Los Angeles and Atlanta kicking off their series finale at 4:10 p.m. ET. Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI like the host squad to break out the brooms here. Brian Snitker’s Braves, on the other hand, enter as +215 underdogs. The over/under run total currently sits at 7.5.

To nobody’s surprise, Kershaw muzzled the visitors’ bats in last night’s 4-0 victory. Kazmir’s up-and-down campaign makes one question whether he can muster a similar performance. The lefty has looked sharper over his past four outings, compiling a 2-0 record with a 2.73 ERA. Most recently, he held the MLB-best Cubs to a single hit in six innings.
On the opposite side, Matt Wisler seems to do nothing but twirl gems. The problem: Atlanta is incapable of giving him support. Wisler had a sub-.500 May despite posting a 2.51 ERA and venturing beyond the seventh in three of six assignments. The 23-year-old righty will be throwing his first pitch at Dodger Stadium.

Unfortunately for Wisler, he’s liable to go home disappointed yet again. The Braves are losers of three straight. They’re last in the majors in runs (168), base knocks (416), homers (22), RBIs (159) and average (.225), among many other categories. In short, just stop the madness already.
