Albies grand slam highlights win
Ozzie Albies gave Atlanta a 5-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning Saturday at Miami en route to a 9-2 victory. Albies completed the contest 2-for-6 with the grand slam and five RBIs. Ronald Acuna Jr. finished 4-for-4 with a run. Brian McCann ended the game 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and three RBIs. Mike Soroka picked up the win as he surrendered two unearned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks over seven innings. Julio Teheran will start tonight for Atlanta as he comes in with a 2-4 record, 5.35 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 44 strikeouts over 38 2/3 innings.
Marlins struggle again
Miami fell 9-2 at home Saturday evening against Atlanta to fall to 9-23 overall and 6-14 at home. The Marlins led 2-0 through five innings before surrendering a combined nine runs over the sixth and seventh innings. Peter O’Brien ended the contest 1-for-3 with two RBIs to pace the Miami offense. Rosell Herrera went 1-for-3, while Jorge Alfaro and Jon Berti each finished 0-for-4 but scored a run. Nick Anderson suffered the loss as he gave up five earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk over 1 1/3 innings. Pablo Lopez draws the start tonight for the Marlins as he enters with a 2-4 record, 4.78 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP plus 33 strikeouts over 32 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are 5-2 in their last seven games overall. Atlanta is 4-0 in its last four games versus the NL East.
Miami
The Marlins are 0-4 in their last four Sunday games. Miami is 1-6 in the last seven Lopez home starts.
Prediction:
Atlanta has walloped the Marlins in the first two games of the series, but the hosts arguably have the stronger pitcher on the mound today in Lopez. While he has had some bad luck, Lopez’ WHIP is respectable and he should get a decent amount of support with a struggling Teheran opposing him. The Braves have been inconsistent through the first month-plus and I could easily see them put up a dud of a performance here on a getaway day.
