Nats’ Strasburg to silence Braves?
If the Braves had hoped for a respite from their woeful start to the 2016 campaign, it must likely wait another day.
Tonight, winless Atlanta collides with Washington fireballer Stephen Strasburg at 7:05 p.m. ET. Online sports book BetDSI likes the host Nationals as 1.5-run favorites. Meanwhile, the over/under total rests at 7.5 runs.
Seven games in, things couldn’t possibly get much worse for the Braves. Fredi Gonzalez’s troops eked out six hits in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat, their 12th straight at Nationals Park. Such a meager offensive display virtually nullified lefty newcomer Jhoulys Chacin’s six scoreless innings.
The Nats could benefit from greater lineup balance themselves, but the presence of Strasburg on the rubber usually ensures a positive result regardless. Washington’s 27-year-old star held Atlanta to six singles in a 3-1 triumph last week that (momentarily) squashed any misgivings about the oft-injured 2014 strikeout leader. In fact, Strasburg has reeled off four consecutive victories vs. Washington’s NL East rival.

Freddie Freeman hopes to bust out of a 2-for-21 rut and enjoy his typical success against the righty, off whom the first baseman has belted three career homers. The struggle’s exceedingly real for everybody affiliated with the Braves, though, and we can’t envision matters playing out in a different fashion on this occasion.
