Braves on a roll
Atlanta is coming off a 7-2 win over the Mets on Wednesday night and the Braves have won eight of their last 10 games, scoring at least six runs in all eight wins. Atlanta is 44-31 on the season, 20-14 on the road and 43-29 with the over. Dallas Keuchel will be making his debut with the Braves today on the mound.
The Braves have been one of the stronger teams at the plate this season. They are averaging 5.43 runs per game while hitting .266 as a team. Pitching-wise, Atlanta has a 4.25 team ERA with a 1.37 team WHIP. Freddie Freeman is leading the team with 21 home runs, 18 doubles and 55 RBI while Ronald Acuna Jr. has 17 home runs and 49 RBI.
Nats heating up
Washington is on a four-game winning streak right now following a home sweep of the Phillies this week. The Nationals are 36-38 on the season, 20-17 at home and 38-31 with the over. Washington has Stephen Strasburg taking the mound today. He is 7-4 on the season with a 3.75 ERA.
The Nationals are middle of the road when it comes to their hitting and pitching. At the plate, Washington is averaging 4.96 runs per game while hitting .253. On the mound, the Nats have a 4.59 team ERA with a 1.33 team WHIP. Anthony Rendon is leading the team with 20 doubles, 17 home runs and 51 RBI while Juan Soto has 14 doubles, 11 home runs and 43 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves have won 10 of their last 12 against a right-handed starter and 7-2 in their last nine against NL East opponents.
Washington
The Nationals have won four straight home games and five straight against NL East opponents.
Prediction:
Keuchel is pitching for the first time as a non-Astro. He is coming off a 2018 season where he was 12-11 with a 3.74 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. Strasburg has had a few shaky starts as of late, but he also has been capable of getting deep into games with a lot of strikeouts. He pitched seven strong at Atlanta with 11 strikeouts on May 28. The Nats are really turning the corner and I think they will ride Strasburg to a win at home. Keuchel is likely to be rusty in his first start in some time.
MLB Prediction: Washington Nationals -145
