Angels struggle at home
The Angels are coming off getting swept at home by the Yankees where they scored just five runs over the three games. Los Angeles is just 5-10 at home this season despite being 16-12 overall. The Angels are putting up 4.64 runs per contest this season while allowing 4.50 per game.
Nick Tropeano will start for the Angels tonight. He is 1-2 through three starts, posting a 4.67 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He has pitched 17.1 innings through his three starts and has 15 strikeouts with seven walks.
Orioles with momentum?
The Orioles haven’t been winning consistently at all, but they are coming off a series win at home over the Detroit Tigers this weekend. They are now 8-20 overall and 3-10 on the road. Baltimore is averaging just 3.50 runs per game on offense while allowing 5.43 per game on defense.
Alex Cobb will start for the Orioles tonight. He has had a rough start to 2018. Over three starts, he has lost all three and has a 13.11 ERA with a 2.83 WHIP. Over just 11.2 innings of work he has four strikeouts with three walks and 20 runs allowed.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles have lost six straight Tuesday games and their last four when coming off a day off. They also have dropped 21 of their last 27 against a winning team.
Los Angeles
The Angels have won four of Tropeano’s last five series openers. However, they are just 2-5 in his last seven overall starts.
Prediction:
While the Angels have struggled at home, I don’t see them losing today to the Orioles with Cobb on the mound. Cobb has been a disaster and the Orioles don’t have a bullpen to help save him. The Angels are still a pretty good hitting team even if Tropeano doesn’t have a great start.
The Pick: Los Angeles Angels -175
