Bedard stays with Mariners
SEATTLE (AP) -Pitcher Erik Bedard is staying with the Seattle Mariners.
The oft-injured lefty agreed Thursday to a one-year contract, a month after Seattle declined to exercise his $8 million option and opted to pay a $250,000 buyout.
Acquired from Baltimore before the 2008 season, Bedard made just 30 starts in three years with the Mariners and went 11-7 with a 3.24 ERA. He hasn’t pitched in a major league game since the middle of the 2009 season.
