Jays 25/1 to win WS after landing Price

LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The Blue Jays made another significant trade on Thursday when they acquired David Price from the Tigers in efforts to load up for a potential World Series run.

After acquiring shortstop Troy Tulowitzki from the Rockies earlier this week, the Blue Jays acquired Price from the Tigers in exchange for Daniel Norris, Jairo Labourt and Matt Boyd. Toronto gave up a lot of cost-controlled talent for a potential 2-3 month rental, but clearly the Jays see an opportunity to win now and are trying to strike while the iron is hot.

Per reports, Price had drawn interest from the Dodgers, Yankees, Cubs and Giants over the past 24 hours. In fact, a couple of hours before Toronto pulled off the trade, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale tweeted that MLB executives were “absolutely convinced” that Price was going to wind up with the Dodgers. So much for that.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Blue Jays are 25/1 to win the 2015 World Series after acquiring Price, which are the same odds they had before the deal. Toronto is also 12/1 to win the American League pennant this season.
