Toronto Blue Jays DFS SPIN
Kevin Gausman recorded 11 strikeouts and allowed three runs over eight innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Tigers. Gausman’s fastball velocity was back up to 95 mph in Wednesday’s encouraging outing, which is a relief for fantasy managers after he averaged just 91.3 mph in his last start. The 32-year-old’s trademark splitter was virtually un-hittable, generating 14 of his 20 swinging strikes on the night. However, he allowed two homers and was forced to settle for a no-decision. He’ll face a difficult challenge on Monday in his next start against the Astros.
Houston Astros DFS SPIN
Jeremy Peña ran wild in Sunday night’s loss to the Rangers, swiping three bases. Peña reached on a fielder’s choice in the second inning and stole second base, but was left stranded there. He was then hit by a pitch with two outs in the fourth inning and proceeded to steal second and third base, but the Astros couldn’t cash him in. Peña also doubled in the seventh inning and came around to score his squad’s first run as Alex Bregman walked with the bases loaded. He finished the night 1-for-3 and is now hitting .227/.301/.409 with two homers, nine RBI and four stolen bases.
