Toronto Blue Jays DFS SPIN
George Springer had five hits and four runs scored in six at-bats Thursday as the Blue Jays topped the Cardinals 10-9. Springer becomes the second player since 2005 to collect five hits on Opening Day, joining Adley Rutschman from earlier today. In a contest full of bloopers and seeing-eye singles, Springer led the way. All five hits were singles and only one was hit hard. The other four had exit velocities of 70, 82, 70 and 63 mph. It was his third career five-hit game. He actually had six hits on May 7, 2018.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Friday that an MRI came back clean on Willson Contreras’ right knee. Contreras had to leave Thursday’s opener after taking a 103 mph sinker from Jordan Hicks off his knee, but initial X-rays came back negative and it’s certainly good to hear that an MRI was clean, as well. It looks like the 30-year-old managed to avoid a serious injury, but the Cardinals are still doing more testing on the knee. Consider him day-to-day for now.
