Toronto Blue Jays DFS SPIN
George Springer (knee) singled on Sunday as a pinch-hitter in the Blue Jays’ loss to the Yankees. Springer remained out of the Blue Jays’ starting lineup on Sunday afternoon for the third consecutive contest due to lingering right knee soreness, but was able to come off the bench to deliver a pinch-hit single in the seventh inning before being lifted for a pinch-runner. The 32-year-old veteran outfielder could potentially be ready to return for Tuesday’s critical series opener against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Boston Red Sox DFS SPIN
Xander Bogaerts has revealed that he’s been dealing with pain in his left shoulder and left wrist since a collision with Alex Verdugo back on May 20. Bogaerts said that he’s “dealt with it a lot since that incident” and had to get cortisone shots in both spots at one point. He added that he feels “pretty OK” now but admits that the ailments probably resulted in him changing the mechanics of his swing because he was in pain. Bogaerts has a nice .286 average and .361 on-base percentage since the collision but has hit just six homers during that span. The 29-year-old is fully expected to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract after the season and become a free agent.
