Atlanta Braves DFS SPIN
Jared Shuster surrendered four runs and walked five in 4 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Nationals. Shuster averaged just 90.1 mph with his fastball today, which was pretty discouraging. There was no Statcast in his final three spring starts, but when he pitched March 12 against the Pirates, he averaged 92.3 mph then. He never even touched 92 mph today, and his slider, at 82.3 mph, was a full three mph slower than it was three weeks ago. Maybe it’s a dead arm issue. If not, those with high hopes for the rookie might find themselves disappointed.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Nolan Gorman hit a pair of two-run homers off Chris Bassitt on Sunday in the Cardinals’ 9-4 drubbing of the Blue Jays. Gorman impressed this spring after altering his approach, and he’s 4-for-9 with four walks through three regular-season games. He’s still likely to sit against lefties, which is going to make it tough for him to be a major fantasy contributor. He’s clearly an improved player, though.
