On the mound for the Brewers will be Zach Davies (16-7, 3.85 ERA), while the Reds counter with Robert Stephenson (3-4, 5.52). Davies carries a 1.34 WHIP with 109 strikeouts in 163 2/3 innings. He allowed two earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks in a 6-3 home win over the Nationals his last time out. He has a sparkling 2.13 ERA in 13 road starts. Stephenson has a 1.70 WHIP with 62 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings. He has been much better than his numbers indicate over his last five appearances, allowing only six earned runs over 24 1/3 innings. He gave up two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks over six innings in a 7-2 home win over the Mets his last start.

Milwaukee enters with a 72-66 record and is 33-34 on the road, while Cincinnati is 59-79 and 34-36 at home. The Brewers have won six of the last 10 meetings, while the total has gone over in eight of them.

On Tuesday, the Reds won a 5-4 thriller as Billy Hamilton hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. Hamilton ended the game 2-for-5 from the leadoff spot. Scooter Gennett was 2-for-4 with a run, while Tucker Barnhart had a hit and two RBIs. Rafael Iglesias earned the win in relief. Orlando Arcia hit a three-run homer for the Brewers. Ryan Braun finished 3-for-4 with a home run. Josh Hader suffered the loss in relief.

Bet on Brewers vs. Reds

The Reds are starting to get what they envisioned with Stephenson and we think he’ll have another quality start here against a lineup that strikes out a lot and has plenty of right-handed bats. Davie has been good, but he’ll have to navigate through a hitter’s haven here without the benefit of a high strikeout rate. Take the hosts to win again.
