Can the Red Sox get past the Indians again? MLB Predictions 8/23/17

Red Sox vs. Indians Pick

Will the Cleveland Indians bounce back with their ace on the mound when they take on the Boston Red Sox tonight at 7:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Cleveland is favored at home, as the Indians are getting odds of -190 to win. The Red Sox are listed with a money line of +165 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 7.5 runs.

The pitching matchup today has Corey Kluber (12-3, 2.67 ERA) on the mound to face Drew Pomeranz (12-4, 3.31) of the Red Sox. Pomeranz has been very good this season, racking up 136 strikeouts with 48 walks and a 1.35 WHIP. He has allowed 1 run or less in four of his last six starts. Kluber has also been locked in this year. He has 196 strikeouts with 31 walks and a 0.92 WHIP. Kluber has allowed one run or less in seven of his last 10 starts.

These two have split the first two games of this series. Cleveland picked up a 5-4 win on Monday night and the Red Sox followed up with a 9-1 win on Tuesday. Boston is now 72-53 overall and 32-31 on the road while Cleveland is 69-55 overall and 32-28 at home.

Boston got a very surprising complete game from Doug Fister on Tuesday. He pitched all nine and allowed just one run on one hit and two walks. Carlos Carrasco took the loss after allowing six runs in 6.2 innings. Eduardo Nunez led Boston at the plate with a pair of hits and five RBI. Francisco Lindor had the lone hit and RBI for the Indians.

Bet on Red Sox vs. Indians

Cleveland was silenced by Fister last night, which was surprising. However, I think Kluber will return the favor against Boston tonight. Pomeranz has been great in his own right, but I think he will give up a run or two and that could be more that Kluber will allow tonight. If Kluber is strong, I don’t see Boston coming back to win.
