Tigers vs. Royals Pick
Can the Detroit Tigers go on the road and hand a loss to the Kansas City Royals when the two meet up tonight at 8:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Royals are favored at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -125 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +105 to win, while the over/under total has been set at 10 runs. These two have met six times this season, with the Tigers winning four of the six meetings.

The pitching matchup in tonight’s game has Jordan Zimmerman (5-7, 5.87 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Jason Vargas (12-3, 2.62) of the Royals. Zimmerman has allowed at least four runs in three straight starts. He now has a 1.52 WHIP with 67 strikeouts and 30 walks in 2017. Vargas has been largely outstanding for KC. He is coming off one of his worst starts of 2017, allowing six runs to the Mariners before the break. On the season, he has 78 strikeouts with 25 walks and a 1.15 WHIP.
The Tigers are coming off a home series win over the Blue Jays this weekend. Detroit is now 41-49 overall and 16-28 on the road. The Tigers are putting up 4.76 runs per game while allowing 5.03 per game. The Tigers are being led by Justin Upton, who has 23 doubles, 15 home runs and 56 RBI. J.D. Martinez has 13 doubles, 16 home runs and 39 RBI in 56 games.
Kansas City snapped a five-game losing streak on Sunday with a 4-3 win over the Rangers. The Royals are now 45-45 overall and 25-21 at home. KC is scoring 4.10 runs per game while allowing 4.40 per contest. The Royals are being led by Mike Moustakas, who has 25 home runs with 55 RBI. Salvador Perez is adding 18 doubles, 18 home runs and 57 RBI.
I am a little surprised to see how close to even these odds are. I know Kansas City is struggling somewhat and Vargas had a bad last outing, but that doesn’t scare me for tonight. Vargas should bounce back against a lineup that doesn’t have a .300 hitter. KC’s batters should also have success against Zimmerman, who has been struggling all season.
