According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Twins are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -120 to win, while the Royals are listed with a money line of +100 to win. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 9.5 runs.

The pitching matchup for tonight’s game has Ervin Santana (14-7, 3.35 ERA) on the mound for the Twins to face Ian Kennedy (4-10, 5.37) of the Royals. Santana has been in a bit of a funk, allowing at least three runs in five of his last six starts. He has 148 strikeouts this season, 58 walks and a 1.14 WHIP. Kennedy has also struggled, allowing at least three runs in seven straight starts. Kennedy has 113 strikeouts with 55 walks and a 1.33 WHIP this season.

The Twins opened this weekend series on Thursday night with a 4-2 win at Kansas City. Minnesota is now 73-67 overall and 38-30 on the road while the Royals are 69-70 overall and 36-33 at home.

Minnesota earned the win over the Royals thanks to a three-run effort in the top of the ninth inning. Kelvin Herrera blew his fourth save of the season by allowing the three runs on a Brian Dozier sac fly and a Jorge Polanco two-run single. Sam Gaviglio pitched five solid innings for KC, allowing just one run. Kyle Gibson had another good start for the Twins, going seven innings and allowing just two runs. Joe Maurer finished with three hits for the Twins while Alex Gordon and Whit Merrifield each had two hits and a RBI.

Bet on Twins vs. Royals

Neither pitcher is looking good right now and neither has a great history against their opponent tonight. However, Kennedy has really struggled against the Twins. He has posted a 6.00 ERA in four starts against Minnesota this season. Kennedy is also the one less likely to get run support, as the Royals haven’t been doing much hitting over the last few weeks. Go with the Twins to grab another win.
