According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Texas is favored tonight, as the Rangers are getting odds of -210 to win. The White Sox are listed with odds of +190 to prevail, while the over/under total for the game has been set at 11 runs.

The pitching matchup tonight has Derek Holland (6-12, 5.68 ERA) on the mound for Chicago to face Martin Perez (7-10, 5.08) of the Rangers. Holland has mostly struggled his year and is coming off a 7-run outing against the Royals over just two innings. He has 92 strikeouts on the season with 61 walks and a 1.64 WHIP. Perez hasn’t been great in 2017, but has allowed just three runs over his last two starts. He has 83 strikeouts this season with 45 walks and a 1.56 WHIP.
These two opened the series on Thursday and Texas picked up a 9-8 win. However, Chicago bounced back on Friday with a 4-3 victory. The White Sox are now 46-73 overall and 21-42 on the road. Texas stands 60-61 overall and 34-28 at home.
Friday’s game saw Nicky Delmoncio get an inside-the-park home run in the eighth inning to propel the White Sox to the win. It was his second home run of the game and he finished with three RBI. Tim Anderson added three hits for the Sox. Neither starters factored in the decision. James Shields allowed just two runs in 5.1 innings for Chicago while Andrew Cashner gave up three runs in 5.2 innings of work. Mike Napoli had his 25th home run of the season to lead Texas at the plate.
Neither pitcher inspires a great deal of confidence, but recent trends would lead you to believe that Perez is more capable of a good start. The odds of Holland not allowing a handful of runs is pretty slim, especially on the road. Texas also has a lineup that is pretty dangerous while Chicago only has a few hitters to be concerned about. Stick with Texas at home despite Friday’s setback.
