Cardinals vs. Cubs MLB Prediction
The struggling Cubs drilled their NL Central rivals, the Cardinals, in their series opener with St. Louis on Friday afternoon. Will Chicago hand St. Louis yet another loss at Wrigley Field on Saturday night or is there a smarter bet on the board?

Tyler O’Neill (illness) went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a walk Friday against the Cubs in his return to the lineup. This was O’Neill’s first time in the starting lineup in a week; he left a game last Friday after being hit in the finger with a pitch and experienced an allergic reaction to something he ate earlier this week. Fortunately, he’s feeling better on both fronts. O’Neill has enjoyed a tremendous first half, slashing .276/.333/.551 with 15 homers, 37 RBI, and six steals over 67 games.

Joc Pederson went 2-for-3 with a three-run double, a walk, and two runs scored in Friday’s 10-5 win over the Cardinals. Pederson hit a low liner to right field in the first inning which Dylan Carlson almost managed to catch, but it dropped in and cleared the bases. He would later add another double in the eighth which landed in front of a diving Harrison Bader. The veteran slugger came into Friday’s action in a 9-for-60 (.150) slide at the plate and hasn’t homered since June 18, but he still figures to draw some interest as a lefty bat for a contender.
Cardinals vs. Cubs Betting Prediction
The Cardinals are now winless in their last five games versus the Cubs overall and are 0-5 in their last five games at Wrigley Field. They’re also 3-13 in their last 16 divisional games, are 3-10 in their last 13 games as a road underdog and are 5-16 in their last 21 road games. For as much as the Cubs have struggled, the Cardinals have been playing bad ball for well over a month as well.
