He also singled and drew a pair of walks in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-3. Javier Báez was removed as precaution on Saturday against the Cardinals after jamming his thumb. Cubs manager David Ross told reporters that Báez jammed his thumb “on a couple of plays in the loss to St. Louis, but that he was removed because he needs the shortstop back in the lineup on Sunday. The infielder had missed a few games earlier because of a thumb injury, so it makes sense for Chicago to take things easy — especially in a game Chicago lost 6-0. There’s a good chance Báez is back in the lineup for the second-half finale, but fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on it.
Cardinals vs. Cubs Betting Prediction
The Cubs are now 7-19 in their last 26 games overall, are 2-10 in their last 12 games following a loss and have failed to win in seven of their last eight divisional games as well.
