St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Steven Matz took another loss after giving up four runs in 5 1/3 innings Friday against the Mariners. The Cardinals could and should have taken Matz out of a 2-2 game after five, but he came back out and walked two of the three batters he faced in the sixth. Both then came around to score off Drew VerHagen. The loss left Matz 0-3 with a 6.55 ERA. Next up for him is a start against the Mets. He’s thus far winless in three starts against his former club, whom he nearly re-signed with after the 2021 campaign.
San Francisco Giants DFS SPIN
Anthony DeSclafani surrendered four runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the Mets. DeSclafani was putting together another very solid effort until two singles and a Pete Alonso homer opened up the Mets’ lead in the fifth. The homer was just the second allowed by DeSclafani in four starts. He’s definitely been fortunate there, but with his velocity bouncing back after missing most of last year and a 21/3 K/BB ratio in 25 innings, his stock has climbed some.
