St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol told reporters late Tuesday that Ryan Helsley (finger) “should be fine.” Helsley was removed from an eighth-inning relief appearance Tuesday night in Pittsburgh after tweaking his right middle finger when he stumbled to the ground while fielding a comebacker. “Just on the way down after catching the line drive, he kind of jammed it,” said Marmol. “But not anything where medical is super concerned about it. Not worth trying to pitch through it.” The flamethrowing closer wrapped up the regular season with a dominant 1.25 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, and 94 strikeouts in 64 2/3 innings of work. He will presumably be available for Game 1 of the best-of-three Wild Card Series on Friday.
Pittsburgh Pirates DFS SPIN
Ke’Bryan Hayes told reporters that he’s dealt with back discomfort for all of the 2022 season. Hayes said that it’s from a hip issue that occurred during a workout early in the season. The 25-year-old has struggled throughout the season as seen in a slash of 245/.316/.347, and he’s only hit 7 homers. Those struggles can at least partially be attributed to the issues with his back, although it didn’t keep him from stealing 20 bases. There’s certainly upside in Hayes’ profile, but there’s a lot of risk that comes with the reward potential.
