St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Nolan Gorman is not in the Cardinals’ lineup for Friday’s game against the Red Sox. The Cardinals’ decision to move Willson Contreras to designated hitter full-time has several cascading effects on the remainder of the roster, most notably when it comes to Nolan Gorman’s role. The 23-year-old slugger, who doesn’t exactly have a clear path to everyday at-bats at an infield spot, is out of St. Louis’ lineup on Friday night for the second straight game. He would be playing everyday on most clubs, but there just isn’t a spot for him right now with Contreras stuck at designated hitter, especially when there’s a lefty on the mound.
Boston Red Sox DFS SPIN
Trevor Story (elbow) has started hitting and throwing in extended spring training. There haven’t been a ton of updates on Story’s rehabilitation process over the last few weeks, so this qualifies as an uptick in baseball activities. The 30-year-old middle infielder is expected to return sometime around midseason, but there isn’t an official timeline from the Red Sox quite yet.
