Cubs make a statement
The Cubs rocked the Indians on Tuesday in a 10-3 win, lighting up one of the best pitching staffs in MLB. Chicago is now 11-9 overall and 8-5 on the road after winning four of their last five. The Cubs are averaging 5.79 runs per game this season while allowing 4.53 per contest.
Jon Lester takes the mound for the Cubs tonight. He is 2-0 on the season through three starts with a 3.10 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He has pitched a total of 20.1 innings and has 18 strikeouts with eight walks.
Cleveland’s momentum derailed
The Indians had been rolling, winning three straight prior to Tuesday’s loss. The Indians had allowed just 10 runs over their last six games altogether before giving up 10 last night to the Cubs. The Tribe are now 12-9 overall and 6-3 at home. The Tribe are putting up 3.50 runs per game this season while allowing just 2.75 per contest.
Trevor Bauer looks to get things back on track tonight. Bauer is 1-2 on the season, but has just a 2.67 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. Over 27 innings of work, Bauer has 27 strikeouts with 10 walks. He has had his two losses come from games where his team scored a combined 1 run.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs have won five straight against AL Central opponents and they have won 13 of their last 15 interleague games. They are also 9-4 in Lester’s last 13 road starts.
Cleveland
The Tribe have dropped six of their last seven against winning teams and 19 of their last 25 interleague games. They are also 0-8 in Bauer’s last eight interleague starts.
Prediction:
I feel the same today as I did yesterday about this matchup. Both team have the capability to pitch well, but the Cubs are much more consistent at the plate. Cleveland hasn’t had a real offensive outburst this year and those are going to cost them games when their starters can’t shutdown the opponents. I don’t see Bauer completely shutting out this Chicago lineup and Lester has the potential to do that to Cleveland’s struggling hitters.
The Pick: Chicago Cubs +110
