Hendricks dominates Cardinals
Chicago completed a home sweep over St. Louis Sunday with a 5-1 victory to improve to 37-27 overall and 24-11 at home. Kyle Hendricks picked up the win as he surrendered one earned run on eight hits with three strikeouts and no walks over seven innings. Pedro Strop retired the final batter of the game for his seventh save. Carlos Gonzalez helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run, his first as a member of the Cubs. Kyle Schwarber finished 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Jason Heyward went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Yu Darvish draws the start tonight for Chicago as he enters with a 2-3 record, 4.88 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with 78 strikeouts over 66 1/3 innings of work.
Rockies held to two hits
Colorado struggled to get anything going Sunday afternoon as it lost 6-1 at the Mets in a series finale. The Rockies allowed three runs in the bottom of the first inning and could not recover. David Dahl paced the offense as he went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Nolan Arenado also finished 1-for-4. Charlie Blackmon was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored the lone run. Jeff Hoffman took the loss as he allowed six earned runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking two. German Marquez gets the start tonight as he comes in with a 6-3 record, 4.07 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 88 strikeouts over 90 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 1-5 in their last six road games. Chicago is 0-5 in its last five road games versus a right-handed starting pitcher.
Colorado
The Rockies are 13-3 in their last 16 home games. Colorado is 6-0 in the last six Marquez home starts.
Prediction:
Coors Field seems like a disaster waiting to happen for Darvish as he has given up 11 home runs over his 66 1/3 innings this season. With Marquez dealing and feeling confident in his home park, this moneyline seems it could be even wider. Both teams have plenty of bats, but Marquez is more equipped to shut them down. Go with the Rockies.
