White Sox can’t find their stride
The White Sox have had some bright spots here and there, but have struggled to win consistently all year. They come into today having lost three of their last four. Chicago is 16-34 overall and 8-16 on the road. The Sox are averaging 3.98 runs per game this season while allowing 5.36 per contest.
Dylan Covey will make just his third start of the season today. Through his first two starts, he is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. Covey has pitched 13.0 innings and has 11 strikeouts with four walks.
Indians around .500
The Indians have also struggled with consistency. They did manage to win their last two games at home against Houston this weekend, but haven’t won three straight April 23. Cleveland is now 26-25 overall and 15-11 at home. Cleveland is scoring 4.74 runs per game this season while allowing 4.44 per contest.
Adam Plutko will make his third start for Cleveland as well. He has won both of his previous starts and has a 2.03 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP. Through 13.1 innings of work, Plutko has four walks and 10 strikeouts.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are just 1-4 in their last five Monday games and 18-42 in their last 60 games on the road. They also have lost five of their last six series openers.
Cleveland
The Indians are 20-6 in their last 26 Monday games and 41-12 in their last 53 AL Central games.
Prediction:
I don’t love the Indians being such a big favorite, but I think Cleveland will beat up on divisional opponents, especially this Chicago team that has struggled at the plate for most of the year. The pitching matchup is similar, but Cleveland has the better hitting and better bullpen. If Cleveland can’t win at home over the White Sox, then the Indians are in real trouble.
The Pick: Cleveland Indians -200
