According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Royals are favored at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -160 to win, while the White Sox are getting a money line of +150 to win. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 9 runs. The public betting currently has Kansas City getting 67% of the wagers at home. White Sox can’t hit
The White Sox have lost nine of their last 10 games and they have scored just five runs total over their last five losses. Chicago is now 5-16 overall and 3-6 on the road. The Sox are putting up 3.67 runs per game this season while allowing 6.14 per contest.
Lucas Giolito is starting for Chicago tonight. He is 0-3 over his four starts this year. He has a 9.00 ERA this season with a 1.85 WHIP. Over 20 innings of work this year, Giolito has 19 walks with just nine strikeouts.
KC can’t find consistency
They Royals just lost a pair of games to the Brewers at home and they haven’t won back-to-back games this season. Kansas City is now 5-17 on the season and 1-9 at home. The Royals are putting up just 3.27 runs per game while giving up 5.59 per contest.
Jakob Junis is starting for the Royals tonight. He is making his fifth start of the year. Junis has a 2.03 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP. He has racked up 20 strikeouts with just five walks over 26.2 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox have lost six of their last seven series openers and seven of their last eight against a right-handed starter.
Kansas City
The Royals have won six straight starts from Junis against a losing team and they have also won four of his last five starts overall.
Prediction:
The White Sox already have Avisail Garcia on the DL and now Jose Abreu is dealing with the flu. I find it hard to see Chicago having success at the plate with the injuries against a decent pitcher in Junis. KC doesn’t hit the ball well, but I think it should be able to see a boost in offense against Giolito.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals -160
