White Sox in a rare hot streak
The White Sox are playing as well as they have in a while, winning four of their last five after taking a series from the Royals this weekend. Chicago is now 46-77 overall and 22-38 on the road. The White Sox are putting up 4.11 runs per game this year while allowing 5.35 per contest.
Lucas Giolito is getting the start for the White Sox this evening. He is making his 25th start of the year for Chicago and comes into today with an 8-9 record, a 6.15 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Giolito has 91 strikeouts and 72 walks over 131.2 innings.
Twins also hot
The Twins are having a nice stretch at home, winning five of their last six after taking three of four over the Tigers this weekend. Minnesota is now 59-64 overall and 38-25 at home. The Twins are scoring 4.50 runs per game this year while allowing 4.67 per contest.
Minnesota gives the ball to Stephen Gonsalves this evening. He is making his MLB debut tonight. Gonsalves is a lefty that was a fourth-round draft pick in 2013. He has a 2.76 ERA in the minors this year.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox have won five of Giolito’s last six starts, but they are just 1-7 in their last eight Monday games.
Minnesota
The Twins have won 11 of their last 12 games against a starter with a WHIP over 1.30. They also have won 22 of their last 30 home games.
Prediction:
This is an interesting matchup. It’s hard to know what to expect from Gonsalves, who is making his MLB debut. He could do well because the Sox haven’t seen much of him, but his start is likely to be short either way. Chicago is hitting the ball pretty well right now as well. The Twins are hitting well too, and that could lead to a big total against Giolito. Giolito has a lot of walks this year, but he has been toning those down as of late. I am going to take my chances on Chicago beating a rookie pitcher.
The Pick: Chicago White Sox +145
