After Sonny Gray had to miss his scheduled start on Monday due to the flu, today’s starter Kendall Graveman is now battling a similar ailment. The White Sox will counter with Mat Latos, who pitched well in his final spring tune-up against the Padres at Petco Park. Latos started with four scoreless innings but excited after he reached his pitch count with two walks and a base hit in the fifth. He allowed five hits with three walks in 4 1/3 innings while striking out three.
While the walks were an issue, Chicago was pleased with Latos’ progress. If the White Sox can get a quality start out of Latos and take advantage of a sick Graveman, they should leave Oakland with three-out-of-four wins.
