Bengals 2012 Regular Season Odds
CINCINNATI, OH (The Spread) – After shocking the masses last season by making the playoffs with a rookie quarterback and wide receiver, the Cincinnati Bengals will look to build off the success they had in 2011.
Oddsmakers have installed the Bengals as 40/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 16/1 to win the 2013 AFC Championship. They’re also 4/1 to win the AFC North Division this season and have an over/under win total of 8 games for the 2012-13 regular season.
This offseason, the Bengals re-signed safety Reggie Nelson back in March and also agreed to terms on a three-year deal with underrated running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis. (He’ll replace Cedric Benson, who was recently signed by the Packers.) Cincinnati also re-upped with free agents Manny Lawson, Anthony Collins and Pat Sims, while Jerome Simpson left for Minnesota.
The Bengals added to their defense in the draft with the selection of Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, as well as their offensive line with the addition of Wisconsin guard Kevin Zeitler. In the second Cincinnati drafted former Penn State defensive tackle Devon Still and in the third, the Bengals added Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu and Clemson defensive tackle Brandon Thompson.
The Bengals’ success this season will rest on the shoulders of second-year quarterback Andy Dalton, who over exceeded expectations in his rookie season. He has a terrific young go-to wideout in A.J. Green and Cincinnati’s defense is a tad underrated as well. But can Dalton avoid a sophomore slump? If he can, the Bengals might be a lock to finish with over 8 wins in 2012-13.
2012-13 Cincinnati Bengals Season Odds
2013 Super Bowl: 40/1
2013 AFC Championship: 16/1
AFC North Division: 4/1
2012-13 Regular Season Win Total: 8
