Reds Season Odds
The Cincinnati Reds believe that they have enough talent to compete in the National League this season and now nothing’s left but to prove it.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Reds 45/1 long shots to win the 2009 World Series and established their National League Pennant odds at 30/1.
The Reds have two of the better young bats in all of baseball in Jay Bruce and Joey Votto. Throw in young star Brandon Phillips and the Reds have the makings of one of the better young lineups in the National League.
The key to the Reds competing this year is the pitching staff. Edinson Volquez was brilliant last season, going 17-6 and making his first ever All-Star appearance. But now that teams have a full season of film to study his habits, will Volquez take a step back this season or will he progress?
Cincinnati has a ton of talent, but it might take them a year to put it all together and make a postseason run. Still, nobody expected the Tampa Bay Rays to go to the World Series and there are some similarities between them and the 2009 Reds – most notably the young bats.
