Oddsmakers from online sportsbooks currently list the Rockies as a -154 favorite. As of this writing, 73% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Rockies to beat the Reds on the moneyline. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on this game.

Reds’ Mahle homer prone in loss to Cubs in last start

Tyler Mahle allowed four runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in six innings in a loss to the Cubs on Sunday. It was the longball that doomed Mahle in this one, which is unfortunately become a recurring theme for the right-hander in the 2018 season. He allowed three against the Cubs on Sunday, and that brings his total up to 13 on the season. The 23-year-old right-hander has excellent stuff as seen in his 52 strikeouts in 52 ⅓ innings, but the location of that stuff still needs work. He’s a dangerous proposition when he faces the Rockies in Colorado on Saturday.

Rockies’ Anderson allows five runs vs. Giants in last start

Tyler Anderson allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Giants. Anderson allowed six hits and a walk in his 5 1/3 innings of work, the third straight start he’s allowed four runs or more with fewer than six innings pitched. He entered that three-start stretch with a 3.78 ERA, and it sits at 4.74 after Sunday’s game. The Reds are up next for Anderson when they visit Coors Field on Saturday.

MLB Betting Trends

Cincinnati

The Reds are just 16-35 in their last 51 games against the Rockies in Colorado.

Colorado

The under is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams and is 5-0 in the last five meetings in Denver as well.

Prediction:

I’m going to roll the dice on the underdog Reds, who had 2-0 and 4-1 leads against the Rockies before eventually losing 6-5 last night. The Red Legs are 4-1 in their last five games coming off a loss, are 4-1 in their last five games after scoring five runs or more in their previous game, and are 7-3 in their last 10 games versus National League West opponents. Mahle is coming off a loss but has flashed some talent this year and Anderson hasn’t been overpowering. The Rockies are three games above .500 but own a -27 run differential so don’t be fooled: This isn’t an elite club despite currently residing in first place in a weak National League West.

The Pick: Cincinnati Reds +144
