Harvey strong in Reds debut
The much-maligned Matt Harvey looked good in his Cincinnati Reds debut after being traded from the Mets earlier this week. Harvey went four innings at the Dodgers Friday night, giving up no runs on only one hit with two strikeouts and no walks. Austin Brice earned the win in relief, while Raisel Iglesias picked up his sixth save. Scooter Gennett went 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs to pace the offense.
Homer Bailey brings an 0-5 record and 5.61 ERA into tonight’s start.
Muncy leads struggling LA offense
The Dodgers were paced Friday by 27-year-old Max Muncy, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double plus two RBIs in the 6-2 home loss. He is hitting .224 on the season with a .333 on-base percentage and .449 slugging percentage in 49 at-bats. It was his third home run of the season. Chris Taylor was 1-for-4 with a triple and scored the other Dodgers run. Kenta Maeda suffered the loss as he allowed five earned runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings.
Ross Stripling (0-1, 1.93 ERA) gets the starting nod for the hosts.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 14-37 in their last 51 games overall. Cincinnati is 6-21 in its last 27 Saturday games.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 24-10 in their last 34 Saturday games. Los Angeles is 56-27 in the last 83 meetings.
Prediction:
Los Angeles has been in struggle mode with the left half of its infield out with injury, including shortstop Corey Seager who is out for the season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery. That plus other Dodgers hitters struggling has led to a 16-22 overall record. Cincinnati comes in even worse at 12-27 and it’s hard to believe LA can lose three in a row at home. Go with the Dodgers as favorites here.
