Schleber home run lifts Reds
Cincinnati trailed 3-1 entering the sixth inning, but put up a four-spot to grab a 5-3 lead which held up the rest of the way. Scott Schebler, who began his professional career in the Dodgers organization, hit a three-run homer during the frame. Scooter Gennett went 3-for-5 with a run, while Adam Duvall had two hits and scored a run. Joey Votto also had a pair of hits. Homer Bailey picked up the win as he allowed three earned runs on 10 hits over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Jared Hughes threw the final 1 2/3 innings of perfect baseball for his first save of the season.
Luis Castillo (2-4, 6.47 ERA) will start today for the Reds, while Rich Hill (1-1, 7.11) gets the nod for LA.
Bellinger homers in loss
Los Angeles lost its third in a row in the series with the 5-3 defeat to drop to 16-23 on the season. Cody Bellinger hit a solo home run for the Dodgers in the loss, a solo shot. Joc Pederson was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the contest, Max Muncy was also 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Austin Barnes went 2-for-3 with a run. Chris Taylor finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. JT Chargois gave up three earned runs on four hits in one-third of an inning to take the loss in relief.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 15-37 in their last 52 games overall. Cincinnati is 5-17 in the last 22 meetings.
Los Angeles
The under is 7-3-1 in the last 11 games overall. The under is 7-3 in the last 10 Dodgers home games.
Prediction:
I’d be very surprised if the Reds complete the four-game road sweep against the 2017 National League champions. As much as I’d love to pick them, I just can’t. But with the Dodgers also struggling, I’m instead going to roll with the under. Castillo and Hill are both better than they have been pitching and the pitcher’s park will help.
