Can Reds contain rolling Dodgers tonight?
Everybody’s picking on the last-place Reds at the moment. Why not add the Dodgers’ Scott Kazmir to the group?
The lefty aims to lead his club to a sweep in tonight’s series finale, with a 10:10 p.m. ET first pitch on the West Coast. Oddsmakers at online sports book Bovada.lv list Los Angeles as a heavy favorite, whereas Cincinnati enters as a +168 underdog. The over/under total sits at 7.5 runs.
Bryan Price’s crew figures to offer just the right tonic for Kazmir, whose inconsistency continued in Friday’s 7-6 defeat at the hands of San Diego. The veteran hurler surrendered five runs, two homers and a career-high seven walks. He previously dominated the Reds as a member of the Cleveland Indians, but that outing occurred almost three years ago.
Kazmir’s counterpart, Dan Straily (2-1, 2.85) actually boasts the better numbers at present. He’s gone 2-1 with a 2.77 ERA in seven starts, never permitting more than three runs. Most recently, Straily limited the Mariners to a run and four base knocks in seven innings of work.

Still, the Dodgers own an eight-game winning streak against Cincy. The Reds are batting .169 during that span. Matters likely won’t improve in several hours.
