Reds to make it two in a row vs. Brewers?
Cincinnati rallied from a 6-1 deficit to snap an 11-game losing streak yesterday. In the process, perhaps manager Bryan Price found a budding star.
The Reds now target their first winning road series of the season this afternoon vs. the Brewers, with a 2:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Miller Park. Online sports book Bovada.lv still needs to see more, though, listing the visitors as 1.5-run underdogs. Milwaukee, conversely, nets odds of -144 to take care of business.
While the middle contest of the three-game set began in a familiar way for much-maligned Cincy (16-33), the offense finally banded together in the late stages. Adam Duvall served a principal player in the proceedings. The outfielder’s seventh-inning jack was his fourth in the last six affairs. He’s gone yard in three straight tilts vs. the Brew Crew, in fact, and boasts 11 RBIs over his last six in the series.
Brandon Finnegan (1-3, 3.97 ERA) welcomes additional Duvall heroics shortly. The lefty last prevailed on April 16, but he acquitted himself extremely well on Monday. Finnegan surrendered just one run across eight frames of a 1-0 defeat to Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.

His most recent turn vs. Milwaukee (22-27), of course, didn’t go so well. Ryan Braun, Jonathan Lucroy and Aaron Hill all went deep off the TCU product three weeks ago. Craig Counsell’s trio will likely support Jimmy Nelson (4-3, 2.92) in a few hours, too, but the Reds are suddenly capable of creating a new mindset moving forward. Expect Pryce’s troops to play a more relaxed brand of baseball, at least for the foreseeable future.
