Indians fall back to .500
The Indians are back to the .500 mark this season after suffering a 6-3 loss at Detroit on Monday. The Indians are now 20-20 overall and 7-11 on the road. Cleveland is averaging 4.82 runs per game this season while allowing 4.40 per contest.
Josh Tomlin gets the start for the Indians tonight. He is 0-4 through five starts and six appearances. He has really struggled, allowing 15 earned runs over his last three starts. Tomlin now has an 8.06 ERA with a 1.79 WHIP. He also has 14 strikeouts with six walks over 25.2 innings of work.
Tigers closing in on AL Central
Detroit has won three of its last four games to inch closer to Cleveland in the AL Central standings, now sitting just two games back of first. The Tigers are 18-22 overall and 11-9 at home. Detroit is putting up 4.48 runs per game on the year while allowing 4.65 per contest.
Francisco Liriano gets the start for the Tigers today. He has been pretty strong this year for Detroit. Over seven starts, he has a 3-1 record with a 3.35 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Liriano has pitched 40.1 innings and has 29 strikeouts with 20 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have lost seven of Tomlin’s last 10 road starts and four of his last five starts overall. Cleveland is just 1-6 in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record.
Detroit
The Tigers have won five of their last six home games but just 4-9 in their last 13 Tuesday games and 21-48 in their last 69 games following a win.
Prediction:
The Indians haven’t been looking good for weeks and has a struggling pitcher on the mound in Tomlin. Liriano actually had a strong start against Cleveland earlier this year, but didn’t get any run support. I think he will get that support today against Tomlin. Detroit has some slight momentum going right now and I think it leads to a win tonight.
The Pick: Detroit Tigers +125
