Indians staying atop AL Central
The Indians are coming off a series win at Detroit over the Tigers. They have won three of their last four and hold a 9-game lead in the AL Central right now. Cleveland is 57-47 overall and 25-26 on the road. The Tribe are putting up 5.16 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.26 per contest on defense.
Shane Bieber gets the start for the Indians tonight. He has started eight games this season and has a 5-2 record with a 4.80 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. Bieber has pitched a total of 45.0 innings this year and has 44 strikeouts with eight walks.
Twins beat up by Boston
The Twins were on a 4-game win streak, but suffered three straight losses to Boston over the weekend. Minnesota is now 48-56 overall and 29-22 at home. The Twins are putting up 4.50 runs per game this season while allowing 4.70 per game on defense.
Ervin Santana gets the start for the Twins this evening. He will be making his second start of the year. His first start was a no-decision where he went five innings at Toronto and allowed three runs on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have won eight of their last 10 on the road and 19 of their last 26 Monday games.
Minnesota
The Twins have won eight of their last 10 home games against a right-handed starter and 10 of their last 12 home games overall.
Prediction:
Bieber has been struggling in the last month. His last four starts have seen him allow at least four runs each time. His ERA has gone from 2.22 to 4.80 in those starts. Santana didn’t have a great start in his return from injury, but I think he will continue to improve with each start as he gets back to being comfortable on the mound. I think Minnesota can ride him and their hitting to a win at home over the Tribe.
The Pick: Minnesota Twins +115
