Indians beat up by Mets
Cleveland was soundly beating on Tuesday night, suffering a 9-2 loss to the Mets in the series opener. The Indians are 74-52 on the season 35-26 on the road and 67-55 with the under. Cleveland has Adam Plutko getting the start this evening. He is 5-3 on the season with a 4.67 ERA.
The Tribe took an early 1-0 lead on Tuesday, but quickly fell behind after that. Shane Bieber took the loss to fall to 12-6 on the year as he gave up four runs over six innings with seven strikeouts. All four Cleveland pitchers that took the mound gave up runs. At the plate, Jason Kipnis drove in both Cleveland runs, one of which came on a solo home run.
Mets heating up
The New York Mets have won four of their last five thanks to Tuesday’s win over the Indians. New York is 65-60 on the season, 35-21 at home and 62-50 with the over. The Mets have Marcus Stroman on the mound tonight. He is 1-0 on the year with the Mets and has a 5.17 ERA.
Steven Matz got his eighth win of the year on Tuesday as he pitched 6.1 innings and allowed just one earned run with seven strikeouts. J.D. Davis and Michael Conforto each homered in the win and drove in two runs. Pete Alonso also had two RBI in the victory for the Mets.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have won seven straight interleague road games against a right-handed starter and 16 of their last 22 road games overall.
New York
The Mets have won eight of their last nine interleague games and seven straight interleague games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Plutko has been shaky on the mound as of late, allowing seven runs over his last 12 innings of work. He carries a 5.29 ERA on the road this year. Stroman hasn’t been great with the Mets so far, but New York has won all three of his starts. He has allowed nine earned runs over 15.2 innings. Stroman has had two starts against Cleveland this year and has a 2.77 ERA despite taking a loss in both games. He should have better run support in this game, as the Mets have shown they can beat up this Cleveland pitching.
MLB Prediction: New York Mets -150
