Rockies vs. Brewers Prediction
The Milwaukee Brewers are fresh off rallying over the last couple weeks to win the NL Central as they defeated the Chicago Cubs three days ago in the Game 163 tiebreaker game. Will Milwaukee continue its strong play today as it opens the best-of-5 NLDS at home against the Colorado Rockies?

Rockies turn to Senzatela
With Colorado using its top two starting pitchers in German Marquez on Monday and Kyle Freeland on Tuesday, the Rockies are going with Antonio Senzatela on the mound for today’s NLDS opener. He enters with a 6-6 record and 4.38 ERA over 90 1/3 innings and 23 appearances (13 starts). He has allowed 10 home runs and struck out 69. Senzatela has been better on the road with a 4.01 ERA and holding opponents to a .220 batting average, compared to .301 at the hitter’s haven of Coors Field. Offensively, Colorado is paced by Trevor Story as he posted a team-best OWAR of 5.6 Story has a .914 OPS on the season with 37 home runs and 108 RBIs. Nolan Arenado has a .935 OPS with 38 home runs and 110 RBIs. Charlie Blackmon has an .860 OPS with 29 home runs and 70 RBIs, spending much of the season hitting leadoff.
Yelich turns in MVP-quality campaign
Milwaukee outfielder Christian Yelich has had among the best seasons in baseball with a 7.3 OWAR. His OPS during the regular season stood at an even 1.000 with 36 home runs plus 34 doubles and seven triples, driving in 110 and scoring 118 runs. He also stole 22 bases. Lorenzo Cain also turned in a fine season as he reached base at a .395 clip and scored 90 runs while stealing 30 bases. Jesus Aguilar contributed an .890 OPS with 35 home home runs and 108 RBIs. As for the Brewers starting pitcher today, it is currently undecided which is why lines on this game have not been released.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 10-2 in their last 12 games overall. The Rockies are 2-8 in their last 10 playoff games.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 20-6 in their last 26 games overall. Milwaukee is 7-2 in the last nine meetings.
Prediction:
It’s difficult to make a pick before we know the Brewers starting pitcher, but we know the candidates and none of them are overwhelming. Milwaukee made the playoffs due to a strong offense and a dominant bullpen. With Senzatela performing better on the road and an offense that is capable of grabbing an early lead against whatever pitcher the Brewers turn to, I like the Rockies’ chances to steal Game 1 as they can turn to their own strong bullpen to prefer an advantage.
