St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Alex Reyes blew his first save of the season Tuesday, getting charged with three runs while retiring only one batter as the Cardinals let a late six-run lead slip away against the Cubs. Reyes should have had the night off with St. Louis going into the ninth with a 6-1 advantage. However, he was summoned when the Cubs loaded the bases on a wild pitch on strike three, an infield single and a walk. Reyes walked in a run, bounced back with a strikeout and then walked in another run to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Javy Baez singled in two to cut the deficit to one, and Ian Happ then provided the knockout blow with a two-run double. This inning certainly wasn’t all Reyes’ fault, but his poor control was bound to catch up to him at some point. He’s walked 37 over 43 2/3 innings while also throwing a league-high nine wild pitches.
Chicago Cubs DFS Spin
Ian Happ doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday as the Cubs completed a stunning comeback against the Cardinals. Happ didn’t start the game but entered after Kris Bryant (hamstring) exited with an injury. He came up with the big hit against closer Alex Reyes, pulled one fair down the first base line to score Anthony Rizzo and Javy Baez. Happ hasn’t been playing a ton lately, but he should see regular at-bats once the Cubs trade Bryant.
Cubs vs. Cardinals Betting Prediction
The Cubs are 6-2 in their last eight meetings versus the Cardinals, including last night’s come-from-behind victory in the top of the ninth. They rallied for six runs in the final frame to stun the Cardinals, who held a 6-1 lead heading into the ninth. The Cubs are also 6-2 in their last eight road games versus an opponent with a losing record, while the Cardinals are just 3-13 in their last 16 games versus divisional foes. They’re also 3-10 in their last 13 games after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.
