Alec Mills struck out three batters and allowed six hits and no walks over five scoreless innings in a 2-0 win against the Marlins on Sunday. Mills held the Marlins scoreless over five frames in an excellent start on Sunday, scattering six hits and not walking anyone. He tossed 49-of-77 pitches for strikes and induced eight groundouts to keep Miami off the board. The biggest threat to score would come in the third inning after back-to-back base hits by Starling Marte and Jesus Aguilar would put a runner in scoring position before Mills got Adam Duvall to strike out swinging and end the inning. The 29-year-old right-hander holds a 5.18 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 24 strikeouts over 33 innings. He’ll get a tough matchup against the Dodgers in Los Angeles his next time out.
Los Angeles Dodgers DFS Spin
Julio Urias gave up six runs over four-plus innings Monday in a loss to the Padres. Urias has mostly been solid — solid is probably an understatement — in 2021, but didn’t have it early on against the Padres in the loss. The left-hander allowed a three-run homer to Manny Machado in the first along with another run, and while he settled down over the next few innings, he also gave up a two-run shot to Jake Cronenworth in the fifth. The poor start sees his ERA bump up nearly a half run; going from 3.54 to 3.99 in the process. The 24-year-old will have a chance to bounce back over the weekend against the Cubs.
