Cubs vs. Red Sox Prediction
Will the Red Sox beat their former pitcher John Lackey when they host the Cubs at 4:05PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cubs are -120 money line favorites versus the Red Sox, who have odds of +110 to pull off the upset today at home. With Lackey set to oppose Steven Wright in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 10 runs, up from the original number of 9.

Lackey is now 1-3 on the year after allowing seven runs (five were earned) over six innings last Sunday versus the Reds. He walked two and gave up six hits in the loss, which included a Scott Schebler home run in the botton of the second inning. The veteran is off to a rough start to 2017. Lackey owns a 4.88 ERA over 24 combined innings.
Wright allowed nine hits and four runs over just 3 2/3 innings of work in the Red Sox’ loss to the Orioles last Saturday. He didn’t walk a batter but he also failed to strike anyone out. The knuckleballer has now allowed seven home runs on the year and will face another tough task today at Fenway Park.
Bet Today’s Cubs vs. Red Sox Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Cubs have lost four of Lackey’s last five starts and are 0-5 in his last five starts on Sunday. The Red Sox, meanwhile, are 39-14 in their last 52 interleague home games, are 78-26 in their last 104 interleague home games versus a right-handed starter, and are 45-20 in their last 65 interleague home games when facing a team that owns a winning record. Both pitchers are struggling, so I’ll take the home team getting plus odds.
SATURDAY MLB PREDICTION: BOSTON RED SOX +110
