Roberts to be named Dodgers’ new manager

Jerry Crasnick tweets that Dave Roberts will officially be introduced as the Dodgers’ new manager on Tuesday, December 1.

Roberts was hired over the weekend but the Dodgers reportedly want to want until after the Thanksgiving holiday before setting up a press conference. Roberts is a former major league outfielder that won a World Series title with the Red Sox in 2004 before moving on to play for the Padres and Giants. He also played for the Dodgers from 2002-2004 and was serving as San Diego’s bench coach since 2013.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Dodgers are currently 10/1 to win the 2016 World Series. They have the same odds as the Cubs, Astros, Mets and Giants, who are all 10/1, respectively, as well. Los Angeles is also listed along with Chicago and New York as 9/2 co-favorites to win the NL pennant next season.
