David Price reaches deal with Red Sox, Boston 16/1 to win World Series

One of the prized free agents this MLB offseason is off the market as David Price agreed to a deal with the Boston Red Sox.

According to the Boston Globe and ESPN, Price and the Red Sox agreed upon a 7-year, $217 million deal. The average of $31 million of the contract is the most ever for a pitcher.

According to oddsmakers at RealBets, the Red Sox are now listed with 16/1 odds to win the World Series next season. The New York Mets are the clear favorite, as they are getting 8/1 odds while the Cubs, Astros, Dodgers and Giants each have 10/1 odds.

Price is coming off a 2015 season that he split with the Tigers and Blue Jays. He was 18-5 on the year with a 2.45 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. He recorded 225 strikeouts with 47 walks. However, in the postseason, Price struggled, going 1-2 with a 6.17 ERA over three starts and four appearances. He has 23 strikeouts with three walks. Price is now 104-56 in his eight-year career with a 3.09 career ERA. He has 1,372 strikeouts with 371 walks.
