2017 World Series Odds
After winning their first title since 1908, the Chicago Cubs have opened as 2017 World Series favorites.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cubs are 7/2 to win the 2017 World Series, making them the favorites to win the Fall Classic for the second consecutive year. The Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals have the next-best odds at 12/1, respectively, while the defending American League pennant winners the Indians are 15/1. (The Houston Astros and New York Mets are 15/1, respectively, as well.)
Continuing with the odds, there’s seemingly good value in the next crop of teams: The Blue Jays are 18/1, although Jose Bautista is likely to move on in free agency, while the Yankees, Giants and Rangers are all 20/1. New York has good, young talent but needs more pitching and could spend big this winter to acquire it, while the Giants have very few holes outside of their bullpen. If San Francisco is willing to spend money to bring in a closer such as Mark Melancon or Kenley Jansen, the Giants could make a deep run next season with the offensive talent that they possess. The rangers, meanwhile, were the best team in baseball during the regular season before falling apart in the postseason.

The Orioles, Tigers and Cardinals also have some value at 25/1, respectively, while the Royals and Mariners at 30/1, respectively, should be competitive as well. The Pirates are 40/1, the Marlins at 50/1 and the White Sox at 65/1 might have too many glaring holes to address in one offseason, while the Rockies and Rays are long-shots at 70/1, respectively.
Speaking of long-shots, the Diamondbacks, Braves, Reds, Angels, Brewers, Twins, A’s, Phillies and Padres are all 115/1, respectively. Those nine teams have the longest odds to win the World Series in 2017.
